Missouri Developing Excellent Leaders in Science (MoDELS)

Are you a K-16 teacher interested in low cost professional development around best practices and current topics in science instruction? STOM is offering the MoDELS program throughout the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Who can participate?
    • MoDELS is open to all Missouri educators. STOM members receive discounted enrollment fees of 50% off or more.
  • When/where is MoDELS offered?
    • This professional development series will be offered on Saturdays from October 2021-May 2022. Sessions will be virtual.
  • What topics will be presented?
    • Topics will be presented by a variety of nationally-recognized speakers with expertise in numerous domains of science. Session themes include:
      • equity in science education
      • working with ELLs
      • growing in a digital world
      • children's literature
      • engineering
    • Presenters include:
      • Dr. Christine Royce, past President and Professional Development Director of NSTA
      • Betsy O'Day, science specialist and MO DESE item writer/reviewer
      • Ted Willard, NSTA program director

  • Do I have to attend all sessions?
    • No. Participants may choose to join any number of sessions. STOM members and non-members are offered a discounted rate to enroll in all sessions. STOM members are also offered further reduced rates for enrolling with a small group of other participants.
