William (Bill) Folk, Ph.D.
Dr. Bill Folk, Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Missouri, trained in science with Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Berg, and served on the faculties of the University of Michigan Medical School and the University of Texas-Austin before joining the University of Missouri as chair of the Department of Biochemistry, where he also has served as Sr. Associate Dean for Research in the School of Medicine. Folk has mentored in research training, numerous PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduates and medical students. He collaborates in research with scientists in the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Folk has led several STEM outreach programs (Maps in Medicine, funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and ShowMe InaBox, funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health) and co-directs a current program to strengthen middle school STEM literacy through development of innovative inquiry activities and teacher professional development workshops.
