William (Shane) Livingston
William “Shane” Livingston is currently in his 6th year of teaching. He is a 4th grade teacher at Garrett Elementary in the Hazelwood School District. He received a Bachelor of Music from West Virginia University and his Master of Arts in Teaching from Missouri Baptist University. He has also received an Advanced Science Certificate from Washington University in St. Louis. He attended the University of Missouri’s Quality Elementary Science Teaching (QuEST) Summer Institute in order to deepen his knowledge of best practices in science education.
Shane is currently the Tier 1 coach for his school’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team. He also serves as a member of Garrett Elementary’s Leader in Me Lighthouse Team, where he leads action teams on direct lessons and student recognition systems. His current focus is on learning and utilizing scientific argumentation in the classroom. He is working with the 5th grade science teacher to establish a STEM club at his school.
Shane attends state and national science conferences and other professional development in order to gain a better understanding of science concepts. He is new to the teaching profession, but he realizes the difference he can make on the lives of the students who enter his classroom.
