Ryan Lacson

Originally from the St. Louis area, Ryan received his BS from Missouri State University, majoring in biology with an emphasis in microbiology & biotechnology, while minoring in chemistry. Afterwards, Ryan received post-baccalaureate teacher certification from Missouri State University, receiving certifications in (9-12) Unified Science - Biology and (9-12) Chemistry. Ryan went on to complete his MS from Washington University in St. Louis, again in biology.

Ryan currently teaches AP Biology, Biology I, and Chemistry in the Galena School District. In addition to his responsibilities with STOM, Ryan also acts as the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Outstanding Biology Teacher Award (OBTA) Director for Missouri, himself being an OBTA recipient in 2017. He has received numerous awards and fellowships, including being named a Springfield Business Journal 40 Under 40 Recipient and a CDC Science Ambassador Fellow. He regularly presents at local, regional, and national science education conferences. He also spends his summers at the AP Biology Reading, performing duties that vary from being an Exam Reader, International Reader, Table Leader, and Early Table Leader.

In addition to his work in science education, Ryan is actively involved with the volleyball community. He sits on the board of directors for the Heart of America Volleyball Region and is an active collegiate and club volleyball official. Ryan currently lives in Southwest Missouri with his wife and daughter.
